Dental Discount program:

A Dental Discount Program is simply a plan that allows members to access discounted dental care when accessing a designated network. In some cases preventive care is covered at 100% or with a copay. These plans are generally the least expensive option.

DMO – Dental Maintenance Organization

A DMO requires the insured to choose a Primary Care Dentist (PCD) from a network of providers. Benefits can be provided for a copay or with coinsurance. In order to receive specialist dental benefits, a referral must be obtained from the PCD prior to seeking treatment from a specialist. If a referral is not received, benefits will not be paid since an DMO does not offer an out-of-network benefit. Benefits are often available without an annual maximum benefits.

Dental PPO – Dental Preferred Provider Organization:

Similar to a health insurance PPO, dental benefits would be available at both in network and out of network providers. When utilizing in network providers, services are typically covered with less expense to the member. Preventive care is generally covered in network at 100% without a deductiible. Out of network care will cost a member more and a deductible almost always applies. A maximum out of pocket is common for PPO programs, generally at $1000 or $1500. The level of coverage in a PPO is often broken down by service type including preventive, basic and major care. Pre-existing condition coverage may be limited for members without prior coverage.

AFLAC – Dental:

Aflac offers a reimbursement plan that can either be used as a stand-alone plan or work along with your current plan.
